The Final Accounts - Reconciliations
Hello folks.
Just wanted to apologise for the long wait. We have good news and bad news. Let's start with the bad news shall we?
Unfortunately ever since the Zoo-Out event we have been busy collecting pledges like mad cows. It breaks our heart to say we were unable to obtain some pledges promised to us. Whether it was a change of heart, or pledger's were just too busy to revert back to us, we won't say anything beyond that it is most unfortunate. These unpaid pledges - which we will call the 'Uncollectables / Uncontactables', amount to RM9675.00. Yes, it pains us that this is a big amount.
In our excitement and enthusiasm we had put that up along with our total, but now we will have to minus that off, obviously. But if these pledger's are just late and would still like to contribute their amount, they are most welcome to call/contact us or the Agathian Shelter directly. I hope all understand though, that we had to wrap it up as it was taking too long.
Now, the good news.
We still went beyond our target of RM15,000. We now have a total of RM22,064.00. This is approximately worth 14 months of tuition for the kids. I also need not repeat that the event day went spectacularly as well, and the kids still talk about it! Also, some of those who went that day have stated their interest to go again, and I take that as the best news of all. Some others have even spread the news on the Shelter, as well as rope in their friends. Great stuff indeed.

As for the handover of the money - we will be meeting up with Mr Siva on Sunday (16th Sept) to pass him the money.
I need to make things clear - we wanted to pass the money monthly to ensure it went straight to the tuition account.
However, considering a lot of factors, including us holding money for a long time, and the issuance of receipts for all the amount, we figured it would be a little problematic. And we didn't want to arm-twist the shelter into doing things our way. So we are giving them the whole figure on the basis of good faith. And we are asking them to kindly provide us with receipts of the tuition and updates from them in terms of the kids' education. We hope you will put your faith in me, and in my team, that we will continue to visit the shelter and see that your money goes to where it must - the children.
So after all this, I would like to again thank you all for your kind support, you have been a part of something small but very special and you should be proud! I would also like to thank the committee once again, who have been just wonderful.
And those who are able to come to the home with me this Sunday evening for the handover and visit are MORE than welcome to do so.

Greetings Everyone,
Just a short explanation here on what you see in the table above. While the collection process was a difficult and complicated one, the reconciliation process was a more straight forward matter. Basically in total we received 303 cash pledges and 3 cheque pledges of various amounts ranging from RM75.00 to RM5000.00. This brought the total amount pledged to RM32,935.00.
We basically only had ticket purchases as an expense which was unavoidable since the zoo was an NGO that relied on ticket sales to upkeep the zoo. You would notice 3 different price ranges for the adult ticket and 2 for the kids tickets. This was due to discounts received on bigger bulk purchases for the tickets. We could not buy all the tickets at one go because we simply did not know how many people were actually going to show up for the event. Anyways the amount paid for ticket purchases was RM1496.00. The Kids tickets were sponsored by Odin so that figure will NOT be deducted from the pledge fund.
The UNCOLLECTABLE / UNCONTACTABLE pledges amount to RM9375.00 and unfortunately this of course we have to deduct from the total figure.
Which brings us to an amount of RM22,064.00 which will be handed over to the Agathian Shelter this coming Sunday. Please allow a week or so from then for us to start handing out the receipts for your pledges. I'm sure most will understand that writing out 200 plus receipts will take a bit of time.
